We love The Runcorn Hills… once they were a huge sandstone quarry…
but now they are shady woods and a place to play and explore…
Once the sandstone that was quarried there went all over the world…
The plinth of The Statue of Liberty is made of Runcorn sandstone…
Today we used and enjoyed our woods for an afternoon of Forest School…
We collected lots of different interesting things in our bag…
Then we made a collage using them…
We played games with the ranger…but the very best bit of the afternoon was toasting marshmallows on a little fire in the woods…
they were delicious! (And a little bit sticky too!)
