We have really enjoyed The London Olympics we have watched some fabulous sporting events over the past weeks…

Our Olympic craft time included these very colourful Olympic Ring pictures made with tissue paper…

We carefully scrunched up tiny pieces of tissue paper…

and glued it onto our pictures…

they look really good!

We wondered why the Olympic Rings were those colours so we had a look on Wikipedia and found the answer…

“…the six colours [including the flag’s white background] are combined reproduce the colours of all the nations, with no exception. The blue and yellow of Sweden, the blue and white of Greece, the tri- colours of France, England and America, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Hungary, the yellow and red of Spain next to the novelties of Brazil or Australia, with old Japan and new China. Here is truly an international symbol.”

What a wonderful meaning to a brilliant games…
